Novus Campbell and the Knights of Christ

Howard J. St Clair

Time travel back to 15th century Scotland at the cusp of the Renaissance. Meet Novus Campbell, a headstrong boy who is bent on being the king. Follow him through his fantasies and trials as he learns about the parallel universes that govern the physical realm. He also gains knowledge of how the choices all humans make dictate the future of us all.

The verdant fields of Scotland hide a sinister secret. Unseen forces are at work that would crush the reigning House of Stewart and rip freedom from the Scottish people forever.

King James III strongly endorses unification with England, but his ulterior motive is to invade Brittany. The captain of Scotland's armies, Lord William Campbell, does not share the king's ambitions to use the English army to expand his kingdom. Lord Campbell's concerns increase when King James chooses Novus, the captain's son, as a prince. Neither man is aware that a plot is in motion that will take King James' kingdom down.

Ecstatic about his nomination, Novus cannot wait to wear a crown! He knew being a prince would change his life forever, but he expected it to get better. Due to a series of terrifying events, he finds himself all alone, fleeing for his life through a raging storm. His anxiety escalates when he meets people of the worst sort, as well as the best. All the while, a mysterious raven follows him wherever he goes.

Kind people shelter him, and through their guidance, he encounters a parallel universe full of magic and miracles. Early in his journey, he comes face to face with the almighty King that rules this realm of darkness and light. Though he hears the voice of God calling him to serve, he still covets the throne of Scotland. He loves the church his new friends attend, but he has a divided soul.

The struggle between good and evil within the spirit realm turns Novus' soul into a battleground. He becomes aware that invisible beings of great power are working around him all the time. Evil ones are loosed upon the earth to destroy him. But, powerful creatures of light have also been sent to fight on his behalf. He is given choices at every turn: Which will he choose? His own will or the will of the almighty King? His utmost desire is to rule Scotland, but what is he willing to do to gain power and a throne?

Would he kill for it? Would he forfeit his soul to be the king?

Set against the expansive Pre-Renaissance tapestry, this spellbinding tale of ambition, deceit, and magic weaves suspense with a touch of horror.
