Obligados a Partir / Forced to Leave: Seis Testimonios de Jóvenes Migrantes / Six Testimonies of Young Migrants

Laia De Ahumada

SOLY is originally from Senegal. HELENA left Bolivia. SAID had to flee Syria. RUTH was born in El Salvador. MERIEM left Morocco, as did OSSAMA. What intertwines their stories is that they have all been FORCED TO LEAVE. With this book we want to show six life stories, six journeys full of difficulties and challenges. Three women and three men who had to emigrate tell us what their life was like before; why and how they left, and what their life is like today in a new country where they didn't know anyone. They are stories of overcoming, but also of pain, loneliness, acceptance and integration. Stories that, in spite of everything, end well, because someone (people or entities) has taken care of it. The testimonies we present invite us to change our gaze, to put a name and a face to the experience of so many people who are forced to risk their lives in search of a more dignified future.
