While we hope the medical profession and adults have become more enlightened in dealing with children and weight issues, the tragedy is that the number on the scale god is still the gold standard for too many. We are, thanks to social media, advertising and photoshop, failing to make peace with our bodies and often spend a lifetime in search of well-being.

It is the author's fervent hope that the message of acceptance and kindness supplant the relentless drumming of our society which keeps girls and women in a constant state of war with their bodies.

Only One Me On Our Big Blue Marble is yet another plea for radical self-acceptance-a message that knows no age.
