Only One of Me: A Love Letter from Mum

Michelle Robinson

Most of us can't imagine having the time we spend with our children or loved ones cut short, but this is the reality being faced by mother of two Lisa Wells, who was diagnosed with terminal bowel and liver cancer in December 2017 at the age of 31. The Only One of Me project grew from Lisa's determination to leave a lasting legacy for her daughters and her desire to help other families rally against the difficulties of loss. Only One of Me is the product of Lisa's lifelong love of writing and a newfound friendship with award-winning children's author Michelle Robinson. The two collaborated on this tender and moving rhyming poem, with charming illustrations by Catalina Echeverri, which is both a love letter to Lisa's own daughters and a testament to the unwavering strength of parental love, a timeless message for families facing the challenges of bereavement.

Catalina Echeverri was born in Bogota, Colombia. She studied Graphic Design in Milano, Italy and Children's Book Illustration in Cambridge, England before settling in London. She has worked with both national and international clients and her book There's a Dinosaur in my Bathtub was shortlisted for the AOI Illustration Awards. Michelle Robinson lives a few streets away from co-author Lisa in Frome, Somerset. Meeting and working with Lisa has been the highlight of Michelle's career to date - even topping the time Tim Peake read her book Goodnight Spaceman to Earth from space. Michelle's many other books include Ten Fat Sausages, How To Wash a Woolly Mammoth and Tooth Fairy In Training. Lisa Wells was diagnosed with terminal bowel and liver cancer in December 2O17. Determined to leave a legacy of love for five-year-old Ava-Lily and ten-month-old Saffia, she created Lisa's Army UK - a team of loved ones who will help support her husband Dan and the girls in a future Lisa won't live to see. Lisa has raised over £ 83k for charity and won Hello! Magazine's Star Mum Award. Only One of Me began as Lisa's love letter to her daughters. She hopes its publication will bring comfort to your family too.
