I always knew I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom but nothing could have prepared me for that abrupt transition. After a day of natural labor, which was not progressing fast enough, and then my son's heart rate dropping to fatal lows, I was thrust into an emergency c-section. This started the journey of self-discovery, given how isolating the first few years as a new mother can be, especially when it feels like friends drift away.
