In Poems from the Back Pew: A Journey from Faith to Doubt and Beyond, Rebekah Gilbert uses poetry to recount her deconstruction process from the high-control evangelical belief system. As her mindset shifted, so did her views on love, nature, patriotism, and more. This collection contains glimpses from her ten-year journey in which she found freedom from fear and discovered a new way to navigate life.

Written for people who have experienced high-control religion and have found freedom and for those who are struggling with both faith and doubt. Each section invites readers to examine their beliefs. Some poems are an invitation to sit with doubt, loss, grief, and anger; others are a celebration of new, spiritual discoveries.
