Police Man Daddy

Leah Anaya

In her debut children's book, Anaya paints a memorable day-in-the-life picture from sunrise to bedtime of a police officer through his small son's viewpoint. Young readers follow the little boy as he watches his daddy get ready to serve, goes to the police station for a visit, sits in a patrol car, and thinks about how much he misses his dad as bedtime approaches.

About the Author

Anaya, Leah: - Leah Anaya is a medically retired police officer. She served for three years at the Oakland Police Department, and just under five at the Vancouver Police Department in Washington State. Before that, she was an intelligence analyst in the US Army. She is now a stay at home mom living with her husband, who is still serving as a police officer, and their three children. She also grew up as the daughter of a police officer in California. Leah is now a staff writer at Law Enforcement Today and is a peer support advocate for The Wounded Blue as well as Serve and Protect. I love to read and write and I like to spend time gardening and caring for our 5 acres. I enjoy watching baseball and hockey.

Praise for this book

Policeman Daddy, especially appealing to children from 2 to 8 years old, features colorful illustrations and easy-to-read text. Anaya was able to draw upon her experiences as the daughter of a police officer, a medically retired police officer herself, and the wife of a current police officer with three children to make this story relatable and detailed.
