When I was a premedical student, I remember feeling overwhelmed with how toxic and neurotic premed culture was. When I got into medical school, I realized what I actually needed to know to successfully become a medical student could be summarized in a small guide and that premed neuroticism fueled an industry of predatory companies that profited from students when they are most vulnerable. My goal in this guide is the opposite: I want to give you all the essential skills you need to matriculate into medical school with the least amount of stress possible. My mission is for this to be one of the last "college guide" books you need to read before medical school. The reason this guide is so effective is that it is very easy to teach students what they need to do but it is more difficult to teach students what not to worry about. This guide will explain to you what is hype, what tenets you need to follow to prioritize your mental health, and what you should worry about each year of your college experience.
