Magellan, Marta: - Marta Elizabeth Magellan is a nature lover who has made putting books in children's hands one of her favorite causes. An avid admirer of wildlife, she travels yearly to wildernesses all over the North and South American continent. She has written nonfiction books for children about animals, readers for the educational market, magazine articles for both children and adults, poetry and essays. She is the founder of the Kids' Choice Story Contest at Miami Dade College/ Kendall Campus, in which once a year college students write stories judged by children. She taught English, Creative Writing, and Survey of Children's Literature at Miami Dade College where she was a full professor.

Magellan, Mauro: - Mauro Magellan was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1954. The family immigrated to the United States in 1957. Mauro has been illustrating books, playing and recording music for well over 45 years. Perhaps Mauro is best known as the drummer with The Georgia Satellites, whose song Keep Your Hands To Yourself, I Love You Period and Hippy Hippy Shake(Cocktail starring Tom Cruise and a Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Movie) shook up the music industry in the late 80s. He still plays with Dan Baird, lead singer of the Satellites all over the world. Mauro has illustrated numerous books for major publications such as Pelican Press, Long Street Press, The Globe Peqout Press and John Wiley and Sons. He's also written and illustrated 3 children's books published by Humanics Children's House Atlanta, GA Mauro lives in a 120 year old farm house on 25 acres in Monroe, Wisconsin with his wife Tracy. Together they have two wonderful daughters Rachel, and Julia. They also have a granddaughter, Leah. His hobbies include oxygen farming (planting native trees), gardening, woodworking, and collecting vintage drum sets.
