Summitt, Pat: - "Pat Summitt is an American treasure. She was an iconic women's basketball coach for 38 years from the University of Tennessee. In those 38 seasons, she coached 161 players, had a 100% student-athlete graduation rate, won 8 National Championships, 18 NCAA Final Fours, 15 Coach of the Year Awards, Awarded 9 Medals for coaching the U.S. National Team. She also founded the Pat Summitt Foundation, was a member of U.S. Department of State's Council to Empower Women & Girls Through Sports, only person to win Olympic medals as both player (1976) and head coach (1984). She retired as winningest coach in NCAA history, men or women with 1,098 victories. Pat was awarded the Winged Foot Award from the New York Athletic Club for coaches reaching the highest levels in coaching.
