David Friedman is a law professor and academic economist with a doctorate in physics and more than four decades of involvement in historical recreation. His nonfiction books have been reviewed in the Times Literary Supplement and the Wall Street Journal, discussed in an episode of Booknotes and used as university textbooks. He is, with his wife, the author of a book on medieval and renaissance cooking and another covering a wide range of topics in historical recreation. Salamander is his second novel. His first, Harald, was published by Baen books.
