The fifty year conflict between man and daemon hits full intensity as the General and his daemons attack Alpha, a safe stronghold containing hundreds of humans. The attackers are revitalised by new daemons, quicker, sharper killing machines, like the daemons of old. Wraith and the other humans must bond together to make a last stand against the beasts.

At Death's Bane another battle ensues. A weary Khan, sick and hallucinating, with his own daemons, takes on an army of humans intent on reclaiming the capital in a surprise assault. Tom, Maigge and Jonas have a plan: it's risky but may just work.
