Somatic Intelligence; You Are the Fulcrum - Using the Conscious Language of the Body to Heal

Suresha Hill

This book is revolutionary in how it can transform your life. It can land you inside of your body in a whole new way that starts with taking charge of feeling better, and grows into healing on physical, mental, and energetic levels. The beginning, middle, and end use the keys of awareness and listening. The body uses many languages to exchange information within itself, as well as with us, when we're listening. This book shows you step-by-step how to learn that vocabulary and become part of the conversation the body's having about your experiences, and describes simple movements that open, balance, and integrate your system while growing in awareness. Once consciously in the loop, you can have a huge influence over how the body reacts moment-to-moment and even rewrite stored, unpleasant history. We can reorganize how the cells and tissues have been reacting to injury, surgeries, traumas, and stressors that otherwise accumulate into what later may be expressed in disease, dysfunction, and limitations of all kinds in your daily life. It also goes into detail about the types of unconscious decisions that interfere with taking care of ourselves in a timely way. This book shares how to get inside of your subconscious decision-making process and bring it up to the surface so that what used to be numb or fuzzy becomes clear. Important distinctions are described between feeling better and healing. It's a type of liberation that's too good to miss!

About the Author

Hill, Suresha: - "Suresha has lived a lifetime of curiosity and fascination about the human condition and how to possibly improve, if not uplift the experiences and challenges attached to being born. She began studying Sociology at Kentucky State University, then switched majors to Elementary and Special Education when she transferred to Kent State University in 1970. After earning a Bachelor of Science Degree, she went on to earn M.S. and Ed.S. degrees in School Psychology, with a Specialty in Prevention and Systems Intervention. After a few years of practicing in her fields of study including the psychology of change, she saw that many of the learning problems in children were related to neurological, physiological, and emotional issues. Her studies then extended to energetic systems like Shiatsu and Polarity, Breath Therapy, Hypnotherapy, Anatomy, Physiology, the musculoskeletal system, Visceral Manipulation (internal organ treatment), Brain Classes, the Lymphatic System, Hanna Somatic Education, a diploma in Osteopathy, a Biodynamic Cranial Sacral Therapy Training, and a few other modalities. Along the way, she'd been a Martial Artist in Isshin Ryu karate, along with Dwa Shaan, and various forms of Chi Kung. She danced and played a variety of sports for her entire life, and began a Spiritual focus in 1978, whereby she studied with a variety of teachers and a few Spiritual Masters. She also wrote for a newspaper for three years, worked for a Public Relations firm as an interviewer and writer, and wrote several books. "Remember the Wisdom that Progress Forgot - Sharing the Gems of our Ancestors" took 15 years to complete as a tribute to her ancestry. The first three volumes in the Somatic Intelligence series were written for students of the NeuroSomatic Integration work she developed. Somatic Intelligence Volume 4 was entitled, "What your Body is Dying for You to Know," Volume 5 is, "The Conversation Every Body Wants to Have with You," and Volume 6 is, "Opposing Gravity - How to Recognize and Heal from Head Injuries." She worked many years for chiropractors, Wellness Centers, and a Sports Medicine clinic until 1992, when she founded the Marin Center for Somatic Integration. Suresha taught Somatics, along with various aspects of NeuroMuscular Reeducation for 25 years. She became the owner and CEO of Shibui Gardens Spa in 2005, where she continues her practice supporting the community in a variety of methods that help them to regain or retain health and well-being. Her vision is to inspire the desire to heal into wholeness."

Praise for this book

"You'll definitely want to read this book. So many of us ask ourselves why we're still in pain, why we're so mentally and emotionally off-balance, why we can't get a hold of our life in various ways. This book is a rich tapestry of information which dives deeply into our stressors, injuries, and body systems from cells to organs to brain functioning which contribute to our lack of health and well-being and how we might be able to re-assemble ourselves. Even as we seek help from medical and alternative therapies, we need to go inside and expand our internal awareness and develop greater sensitivity with honest self-discernment. It takes self-seeking and practice. You only have your health and well-being to gain. It's worth it!" - Susan Koenig, Hanna Somatic Educator and Instructor

"Suresha's unique gift is to provide a thorough account of how a somatic educator looks at the world, while telling of her personal journey to health and well-being. This book is a treasure trove of accessible information for the healing arts practitioner and their clients. It gave me many insights into the nature of my own work and what is possible for those who seek guidance, and I'm sure it can be for you and for those you love." - Allison Post, co-author of The Gut Wellness Guide

"I have had the privilege of having Suresha Hill offer recommendations from her book to help me heal perennial discomfort I have dealt with for quite a while. Using the wise suggestions from her book, the problem has gone away completely, and, more importantly, I have begun to develop practices from reading her book that will benefit me for the rest of my life. She offers many healing practices for the lives we seek to live." - Cliff Berrien, Curator of Contemplative Practices, Center for Action and Contemplation
