ABOUT THE BOOK This book was written to help teachers maintain positive interactions in the classroom with their students. As a Grade One teacher throughout most of her teaching career, Marina Greerson reveals how she dealt with the disciplinary problems that she encountered on a daily basis in her classroom. She also describes the strategies she used to arouse enthusiasm and a love of learning in the children. Because of the phenomenal growth that the students make from the beginning to the end of Grade One, it is the most exciting year of all the grades. It is very important to develop a solid foundation for the information, knowledge and behaviors that the students will learn and carry on into other grades. The book illustrates several case histories about how she deals with the children's behavior by teaching and employing various strategies to help resolve problems independently and peacefully. These strategies can be used by parents and teachers to help maintain good behavior in children at home as well as in school.
