Whom she has not seen in the five years since graduation, and they pick up where they left off in college.

Anais loves her life in Lakewood, Texas right up until she is struck by an eighteen-wheeler while cycling. Her friendship with Avery becomes splintered when Anais falls for her attending physician. In a routine day surgery, Anais suffers a heart attack and later a near death experience while under the watchful eye of Dr. Aiden Wells. Avery blames the doctor claiming malpractice, vowing to have his license revoked.

As Anais struggles to repair the damage done to her heart by the cardiac arrest, with each passing day her relationship with Aiden is strained by the pending lawsuit and his eyes begin to wander, which makes Avery livid. As Aiden distances himself more and more from Anais, her cardiologist Dr. Peter Lenhoff shows unabashed feelings for her and disgust for the plastic surgeon Aiden Wells.

Anais knows that sooner more than later she will have to deal with the issues that Avery has with and about Aiden. Although distance does not always make the heart grow fonder, sometimes the heart finds someone new and leaves the chaos behind.

Anais reaches out to Avery aware that it is imperative in order for their friendship to survive. Avery convinces her that the results will be heartbreaking if she stays with Aiden. Will she choose Peter, the sexy cardiologist from South Africa? In order to find love and happiness she must leave one doctor behind.
