"I very much enjoyed The Curse of Sotkari Ta. I am new to the space opera genre but I have always liked science fiction. Maria Perez has created a fully formed universe that drew me in right away. She built in a fascinating history of the Sotkari Ta that gives the story a depth and richness. Although unique and interesting, this world is enough like our "Earthian" world to be quickly understandable and easy to get immersed in. I immediately connected with the main character, Mina, and her plight of being stolen away from her life and learning secrets about herself and the universe that were previously unknown to her. Maybe that is a perfect set up for our age. The plot is well constructed and pushes the story forward so it is never boring. It is a well-paced fast read. The book has a romance element, and the romantic scenes were well constructed and tasteful. It was a joy from start to finish. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in science fiction and a good story. I look forward to book 2"
