The Devil in His Big Blue Eyes: A Mother's True Story on Setting Her Teenage Son Free from A deal He made With The Devil

Josi Lopez Garmarra

I am Marlene Giuliano, and The Devil in His Big Blue Eyes is my story-a true account of my life, my family, and the spiritual battles that tested my faith and my love for my children. Writing this book was my way of making sense of the pain, fear, and hope that defined my journey as a mother. It's not fiction; it's the raw truth of my experiences, poured onto the page to share the struggles and redemption I found through God's grace.

This is the story of my life as an Anglo-Saxon woman married to Jacque, a Sicilian immigrant whose deep-rooted traditions often clashed with my own beliefs. Together, we raised three sons, but it's my middle son, Angelo, whose story lies at the heart of this book. His fair hair and haunting blue eyes masked a growing isolation. Bullied and misunderstood, he withdrew into his room, his computer his only companion. I'll never forget the night I woke to find him creeping in my bedroom, those blue eyes glinting with something that chilled me to my core. In that moment, I feared the devil himself was at work in my boy.

I relive the memories that shaped Angelo's path: his innocent kindergarten crush on his teacher, Ms. March, whose reddish-brown hair and glasses mirrored his own features; the heartbreaking realization that he doubted I was his mother because of my dark hair and eyes. That doubt, I believe, was a lie from the enemy, sowing seeds of division in our family. The title, The Devil in His Big Blue Eyes, captures the terror of wondering if my son was lost to darkness-whether spiritual, emotional, or both. I leave it to you to decide what I faced.

My faith in Christ carried me through. Raised in a Pentecostal church, I recommitted to Jesus as an adult, thanks to a dear friend, Angela Padula, whose joy and devotion changed my life. Scripture, like Psalm 127:3-"Children are a gift from the Lord"-gave me strength, even when Jacque's controlling nature and our fights over naming Angelo strained our marriage. During a high-risk pregnancy, when doctors warned of harm to my unborn child, God's voice told me to trust Him over medicine. That choice, though it shocked my doctor, was my testament to His power.

At roughly 500 pages, The Devil in His Big Blue Eyes is my honest recounting of these events, written in a voice that's like sitting down with a friend. It's for anyone who's faced family struggles, questioned their faith, or fought for a loved one. My hope is that my story-of fear, love, and God's redemption-shows that even in our darkest moments, His light can lead us home.
