The Disruptive Innovation Set (2 Books)

Clayton M. Christensen

The definitive books on one of the most influential business ideas of our time, disruptive innovation.

His work is cited by the world's best-known thought leaders, from Steve Jobs to Malcolm Gladwell. In these classic bestsellers, innovation expert Clayton Christensen shows how even the most outstanding companies can do everything right--yet still lost market leadership. In The Innovator's Dilemma, Christensen presents his theory of disruptive innovation and explains that, no matter the industry, a successful company with established products will get pushed aside unless managers know how and when to abandon traditional business practices. In The Innovator's Solution, Christensen and his coauthor, Michael Raynor, expand on the idea of disruption, showing how companies can and should become disruptors themselves. Sharp, cogent, and provocative, these are the two books that no manager, leader, or entrepreneur should be without.

About the Author

Clayton M. Christensen is one of the best-known and most influential thinkers on innovation theory and practice. His research led to one of the most important ideas of the twentieth century--disruptive innovation. As a professor at Harvard Business School, he influenced generations of leaders and entrepreneurs. He authored twelve books, including five New York Times bestsellers, and over one hundred articles on disruptive innovation in business, healthcare, and education. The Economist named The Innovator's Dilemma one of the six most important books about business ever written. Christensen is a winner of the Global Business Book Award; was twice named the World's Greatest Business Thinker; won the Abernathy, Newcomen, James Madison, and Circle prizes; and was a five-time recipient of the McKinsey Award, given each year to the best articles published in Harvard Business Review. Christensen cofounded Innosight, a management consultancy; Rose Park Advisors, an investment firm; and the Clayton Christensen Institute, a nonprofit think tank. He was a friend and mentor to some of the most important innovators of our time. He and his wife are the proud parents of five children, and they have eleven grandchildren.

Michael E. Raynor is a managing director at Deloitte. His twenty-five years of client work and practitioner-centered research address competitive and corporate strategy, innovation, and uncertainty. He is also the author of The Strategy Paradox, The Innovator's Manifesto, and The Three Rules (with Mumtaz Ahmed). His current focus is applying these insights to the challenges of decarbonizing the global economy. He has a doctorate from Harvard Business School, an MBA from the Ivey Business School, and a philosophy degree from Harvard University.
