About the Author

Gladwin, Bridget: - Bridget P. Gladwin is retired from a thirty four year career in New York State and Local Government. Twenty eight of those years were spent in State and Local corrections. She has served as warden of three different minimum and medium security male and female New York State correctional institutions and was a deputy commissioner for the Westchester Department of Corrections. During her career, Ms Gladwin has also worked as a criminal justice consultant. She worked as a trainer for the American Correctional Association, the National Institute of Corrections and as a program evaluator for the National Institute of Justice. Ms. Gladwin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from London University and a Masters of Social work from Rutgers University. Since her retirement, she has been an adjunct professor at Pace University, St. John's University and currently teaches at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
McConnell, Charles R.: - Charles R. McConnell started his professional career in industrial and management engineering, followed by 29 years in human resources management in the healthcare industry. During those years he served as a human resources manager for affiliated organizations of a multi-facility healthcare system based in Rochester, New York, and earlier as a senior consultant with the Management and Planning Services division of the Hospital Association of New York State. He currently is an independent human resources and editorial consultant who has published more than 20 books and numerous articles, and serves as editor of a quarterly professional journal. He holds a BS in engineering and an MBA from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and has served as adjunct faculty at several colleges.
