"B is for Basil assaulted by bears. C is for Clara who wasted away. D is for Desmond thrown out of a sleigh. . . "
A striking small-format illustrated edition of one of Edward Gorey's "dark masterpieces of surreal morality" (Vanity Fair)--a witty, disquieting journey through the alphabet.
Edward Gorey (1925-2000) wrote and illustrated such popular books as The Doubtful Guest, The Gashlycrumb Tinies, and The Headless Bust. He was also a very successful set and costume designer, earning a Tony Award for his Broadway production of Edward Gorey's Dracula. Animated sequences of his work have introduced the PBS series Mystery! since 1980.

Realizing that reading my parents’ copy of Edward Gorey’s Amphigorey Too, containing The Gashlycrumb Tinies, and being fascinated by the black and red images in the ancient Red Cross kit we had as a young kid totes sealed my fate as destined for my stint working in the ED 😂 https://t.co/IbNwRdaejO
The Rabbit hOle is a new museum experience dedicated to children's literature, opening soon in North Kansas City, Missouri.
Since it’s #EdwardGorey's birthday, we gave The Gashlycrumb Tinies a tour of our fabrication shop to show them some of the tools & materials used to create The Rabbit hOle’s exhibits. In hindsight that was a grave error. 📙: The Gashlycrumb Tinies by Edward Gorey (@HMHCo ) 1/5 https://t.co/1wJVopIqG2
