Thought provoking, sincere and approachable. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to delve deeper into the possible reason why humans have been obsessed with wine for thousands of years. Nelson takes the reader on a journey through the parallels of wine and the human soul. He creates a safe space around two complex topics and guides the reader into deeply thinking about how appreciating wines could lead us to live a more worldly spiritual life, like Jesus did. Great read!

Attend!"-for there is a world of magic all around us. It is always there, but you have to get your feet dirty to see it, find it, taste it. This is Nelson's journey, one we take with him into a deeper love of wine and of Jesus. This book cultivates this deeper, more attentive love.

As a foot-crushed grape still in spiritual fermentation, I find that Boschman's/Jesus's wine-soul imagery resonates deeply. Nelson is a wise friend and experienced vintner who creatively guides faith shifts like mine. He clarified my own long process as a Welch'sTM grape Baptist into the deep dessert reds of the Orthodox chalice, all with a smile on stained and satisfied lips. A delightful read!
-Bradley Jersak, Dean of Theology & Culture, St. Stephen's University, author of A More Christlike GodNelson Boschman's The Growing Season, like some wines, masks its strength by a deceptive smoothness. I felt, from beginning to end, like I was being guided through a tasting by a knowledgeable friend. But at the end I realized I had more than tasted: I had savoured a full bottle of wisdom about what it takes to make both a fine wine-and a fine soul. "Wine makes the heart glad," says the Psalmist. And so does this book.
-Dr. Loren Wilkinson, professor emeritus of philosophy and interdisciplinary studies, Regent College (Vancouver, BC, Canada). This book will do more than encourage you to reach for a glass with friends. It will encourage you to "make friends with mystery." Biblical faith would be unrecognizable without its love for wine. Nelson Boschman's book will show you why.
