Beth Luey is a retired college teacher and the author of many books about writing and publishing. Her daughter studied piano with Stella Saperstein for twelve years before attending Harvard College.

Stella Saperstein was trained at the Leningrad Conservatory in Russia as a concert pianist and college piano instructor. She immigrated to the United States in 1979 and has taught piano for more than thirty years. She serves as a judge in local and international piano competitions. Parent and teacher teamed up to write this book because of their strong belief in the value of music education for all children.
