The Man In The Cafe: AKA Human Mother Nature

Michael J. Pilkington

This novel combines genres of crime drama, horror, and mystery as it depicts three main characters in a struggle for power. Richard Byrne is on the run in the aftermath of a botched bank robbery and a horrific tragedy that still afflicts him to this day. Maria is currently held under questioning from Detective Lieutenant Leo King while he interrogates her in the aftermath of a horrific attack on herself and her friends that will change her life forever. Finally in the center of it all is a mysterious criminal mastermind who is only known as The Man In The Cafe who will do whatever it takes to stay in power.
Meanwhile, the 2nd half is part prequel and sequel as the sequel takes place 10 years later as Maria, now a seasoned gun for hire working for The Man In The Cafe. Maria attempts to cover her tracks of her crimes, past and present. Leo King, a semi-retired private detective begins to close in on Maria and her connection with the mysterious Man In The Cafe as he gradually uncovers what really happened in the attack at Kennedy Meadows. The novel also presents a prequel depicting 10 years before the events of the beginning of the novel as the story follows the origins of the 3 main characters Byrne, Maria and finally The Man In The Cafe.
In the tradition of all three genres, this is a novel with a plot twist so shocking at the very end that will leave the reader speechless.
