Depressed screenwriter Jake decides to eliminate his neighbour's noisy dog, but he little realises his encounter with a mysterious woman, and her creative relationship with the truth, will pitch him into a confusing sequence of events, involving murder, disappearances, and stolen CIA gold.
In the meantime, Jake upsets his cat, alienates the writers' room for a TV series, gets horribly drunk, and upsets his family back in the UK.
But does he care?
