This story was written by psychotherapist and researcher Jeni Whittaker. It was written in order to encourage children to be themselves, instead of feeling that they must copy or be like others in order to be accepted. It focuses on Knobbly Knuckly, a strange looking tree who feels left out of the 'popular' group in the park and therefore endeavours to mimic the other trees so that he'll be as popular as they are. What he doesn't realise is that he already has everything he needs to be loved and accepted, deep within his own self.
