The Shoephabet: Walking Through the Alphabet

Sarah Steele

The Shoephabet is an artistic alphabet book that gives its reader the opportunity to see the ordinary (shoes) in unusual ways (the shapes of letters). The colored pencil illustrations are drawn with great attention to detail and are sure to inspire the youngest of artists, while the engaging rhymes highlight the personality of each shoe and will delight the mouth that reads them.

About the Author

Steele, James: - James Steele is drawn to clean lines and modern design. This is evidenced in his work as a graphic designer as well as in his first children's book, The Shoephabet. He marries modern white space with classical colored pencil with ease. When he's not designing or playing with his wife and three children, he can be found carving out his next linoleum print.
Steele, Sarah: - Sarah Steele loves writing with rhyme and rhythm. She got lucky enough to marry an artist, and together they have entered the picture book world, pairing amusing rhymes with classical art. You can find their first children's book, The Shoephabet, at their online store www.theredheads.etsy.com. In between writing moments (and all throughout), she is called "Mom" by three little redheaded Hoosiers, ages 5 and under.

My daughter loves looking at the shoes and figuring out how they form each letter of the alphabet." -homeschool mom, Alisha Miller "Not only is the physical quality of this book great, the writing and illustrations are creative and beautiful. Reading The Shoephabet stirs the imagination and makes the alphabet come to life! My favorite letter is M -such style she has." -reader, Heidi Johnson "Unique and beautiful. Each page is a fun story about the letters and the letters have their own flair ! I am a Grandma to 3 young children who are drawn to the creative. I know they will love this book. Artwork and writing is so exceptional. Everyone should have a "pair" of Shoephabet books. One for yourself and one to share. Not the typical ABC book. You will instantly fall in love with each letter and their individual "life" brought through in the artwork and writing." -reader, Deb LaRoy "We LOVE this book! It is a timeless book that is sure to entertain kids of all ages!" -homeschool mom and author, Jami Stichter "This is such a fun and creative book of the alphabet! My children love tracing the letters in the shoes for each page! What?! H can't ride a bike?! My six year old was very interested in the story details of each letter and my eight year old loved the details put into each shoe letter. This is a creative and engaging book for your shelf!" -reader, Jen Bartlett "The Shoephabet is such a fun book! I love it! It is beautifully printed, and the illustrations are awesome. I think it is a fun way for little ones to use their imagination- finding letters among the pages of shoes! The poems are charming and really enjoyable for all ages!" -reader, Becca Garberson
