The Third Europe: Literary fiction named "The Sad Game of the Century in Hungary"

Illar Luht

The book is originally written in Hungarian, and since I am Estonian, it is unique in that sense.

My name is Luht Illar. I was born in Estonia in 1962 and I am an Estonian citizen. I graduated from Tartu University with a degree in Estonian and Finno-Ugric philology in 1999. I have been living in Hungary for quite some time: I have been to Budapest, Tolna and Szigetvár.

During these years, I wrote a mammoth novel with elements of reality - so to speak - which was originally written in Hungarian. I decided to translate it into Estonian and into English as well. It is a fiction, especially as far as the main character is concerned, while the background of the book, which often becomes more important than anything else, tries to convey in a subjective and objective form these events and processes that took place in Hungary at the beginning of the 21st century, or in Estonia in the last years of the Soviet Union. The whole text is not quite finished yet, and of course it continues, but it should give you some idea of the whole thing, the text represents itself. That's why you have to read it if you want to know what my book is about, because it has my life and personal experiences behind it.
