I am Kate Brown. I grew up in Tampa Florida. I loved nature, especially during the summer when my family lived in our cottage at Indian Rocks Beach. Chameleon Lizards were my favorites. I would catch them, and watch them change colors. I caught colorful minnows that lived in the seaweed, and angel fish that darted around the pilings. We set up a salt-water aquarium for the summer. When I moved to the woods of Tennessee, a new window to nature opened, and I discovered snow, ice, and more critters. I live in a place called Deep Woods near Sewanee, Tennessee. There, I started writing "The Adventures of Skeetle The Beetle," which turned in to "Sassafras Tales." I named my property The United Acres of Sassafras. I did not write for many years, but always had stories in my mind. When I retired from my career as an Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor, I finished the first two books of Sassafras Tales: "The United Acres of Sassafras" and "The Book of Nice." I hope you enjoy them.
