The White Unicorn Code: Mystery of the Lady with the Unicorn and other Unicorn tapestries

Richard W. Linford

The Lady and the Unicorn tapestries were discovered in 1841 by George Sand, the French novelist, and Prosper Meremee, a fellow writer. The tapestries were acquired by the Musee de Cluny for a pittance. They allegedly and simplistically depict Taste, Sight, Touch, Smell, Hearing, To My Only Desire. Seven other Unicorn tapestries date from 1495 to 1505 and hang in the Cloisters in the Metropolitan Museum of Fine Art Medieval Collection. Not to be confused with the Cluny Museum tapestries in Paris, these tapestries depict and are referred to as The Hunt of the Unicorn. This novel is about the hidden messages and maps woven into the warp and woof of these great tapestries.
