My (sadly only online) friend Michael Browne has put out a new book of poems, "Requiem Diary." It's a lovely elegy, a series of elegies, really, for his life's love, snatched away from him by the vagaries of unkind Death. Michael finds solace in nature, in the garden that he tends, in his beloved dog (what would we ever do without these loving creatures?), and in the words he weaves. He shares with us above all the depths of a lasting love. His poems will move you, as they moved me; they will ask you to contemplate with him what are the hardest things for each us to contemplate: loss, separation, silence, the cold of winter--metaphorical and real--as well as the end that inevitably awaits us. And, at their deepest level, beyond the grief, his poems share with us a profound joy in the gift of life and, for those lucky enough, the gift of love. You can find his book online.
