Very long summer: As the sun began its journey home

Alexandra Gorg

In a mesmerizing narrative, we follow Susie on a profound journey where she confronts her deepest fears, memories,
and desires. Through vivid imagery and surreal encounters, Susie and book's characters touch the worlds, each representing different aspects of psyche and past. The narrative weaves between past and present, exploring themes of human weakness, death and the passage of time. Through Susie's journey, readers are invited to ponder the delicate balance between joy and sorrow, love and loss. The story is a tender exploration of family bonds, mysteries, mourning and the enduring power of memory and love.

Romance, family secrets, unexpected illness, grief. How fast can the wheel of the universe spin?

"I'm enjoying a dry Prosecco, sitting at a table in the park, outside the tea house. On the pond in front of me, flat-bottomed boats are moored, usually rented by tourists. It's midweek, mid-morning, so it's fairly quiet and empty. The sun is shining intensely, with a wildness as if newly released, it feels so good and bright. I've stretched my legs on the branch next to me, my nails painted with dark plum nail polish, and soft espadrilles made of perforated orange leather. There's a scent of contentment in the air from this free, warm day, as if receiving a secret bonus.
I feel like someone is watching me. When I took the table, out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a man sitting with a political magazine in his left hand and a cigarette in his right. I haven't smoked for so long, but sometimes the thought of inhaling biting smoke can linger so intensely in my mind that I've almost bought a pack of cigarettes a few times. I would gladly light up now to accompany my sparkling wine. He could approach me - I think, and discreetly turn towards the man, intending to smile. The man is looking at somewhere between the trees. The newspaper lies on the table next to the tea pot and a pack of lights. I look at him, but he doesn't pay attention to me, apparently waiting for someone's arrival.
So I watch him freely. He's around 45 years old, with thick hair that curls delicately, in a beautiful chestnut color. They don't shine with a red hue, rather with a walnut brown. He definitely has green eyes, or maybe light hazel. Even if he looked at me right now, I wouldn't see it from this distance. He's dressed in a green polo shirt and beige chinos. He has a sweater draped over his shoulders, in a bottle, darker color than the polo, light slip-on shoes made of sailcloth, and a watch on a sports strap. Interesting... And during this analysis, at the moment when my gaze becomes eager, he turns towards me. We look at each other for a moment until he stands up, takes the newspaper and cigarettes from the table, and approaches me.
- Would you like some company? - he has a nice voice, lower than one might assume, and very bright eyes, like blue watercolor painted with a child's brush..."
