VIRGINIA WINDS A Civil War Fiction Novel of a Scout for Generals, and his Battles, Intrigues and Loves. In 1861, a young naïve Virginian feels compelled to enlist in the Confederate Army. Ned McDonald with his talented horse, Jake, set out to do their part in the Civil War. During his early enlistment, he falls in love with a runaway slave girl, Lizza. Their relationship dictates many of his future decisions. As his allegiance to the Rebel Cause begins to fray, he is forced to make choices that have dire consequences. After effectively serving the Confederates, he changes sides and subsequently becomes a high-ranking Union officer. His talents as a scout usher Ned into the company of Rebel generals, including General Robert E. Lee and the famous cavalry general J.E.B Stuart, as well as Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederacy. Ned later becomes endeared to Union general U.S. Grant, the future President of the United States, and General George Meade, the hero of Gettysburg. With Lizza's untimely death and as Ned and Jake move further into the war, he becomes romantically involved with the highly acclaimed rebel spy Rose O'Neal Greenhow. As Ned plays his next hand, his choices determine if he can survive with his values intact as a man and as a Virginian. The debut Civil War novel from C.R. Clark, Virginia Winds, is a great addition to the great Civil War works of Elizabeth St. Michel, James D. Shipman, and Sandra Merville Hart. If you love historical fiction Civil War era novels, then this is a book for you!

About the Author

About the Author C.R. Clark is a 9th generation American and feels blessed by God to be so. His ancestry lost several from families, starting from the 1750s, that fought for freedom in the Revolutionary War, the American Civil War and World War II. What is not lost on Clark is the price paid by so many in different creeds. Receiving his higher education in Iowa, he lived the majority of his life in Virginia. The appreciation of the meaning and the cost of war was deeply etched by walking battlefields that abound in Virginia, which was called, 'The seat of the Civil War.' Clark is a voracious reader and student of the 19th century, thus has chosen to write on and about. He feels this era is misrepresented and misunderstood to new generations. Possibly a museum of interest and thought might be sustained by his work. C.R. Clark is an Elder in the Restoration Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and 6th generation ordained Elder. He believes in the Book of Mormon given to Joseph Smith the martyr and the King James Bible.
