Wars of the New Humanity: Collection One

Michael J. Brooks

For Randal Scott, war is never black and white.

This collection comprises books one and two of the Wars of the New Humanity series.

Republic Falling: Advent of a New Dawn (book #1)

Eden, the utopian motherworld of humanity's Commonwealth, is a haven of luxury and prosperity. Its inferior counterpart, the planet designated Satellite One, offers only mediocrity to its people, despite the Commonwealth Government's promises of equality.

Now war erupts between humanity's two planetary habitats, and a young soldier named Randal Scott, alongside his lover, Stacie Spencer, seeks revenge on the man who killed his mother and joined the insurrectionists, his own father. Together, they become embroiled in a web of violent conflict, lies, and conspiracies that have Randy questioning both of the combat forces in opposition, the Commonwealth Defense Force and the insurgency known as the Coalition of Rebel Factions.

Republic Under Siege: Threat from Within (book #2)

The Commonwealth's domestic war is over, but peace remains elusive.

Akane Sugimori, a defiant colony immigrant from Satellite One, becomes ostracized by planet Eden's rigid class system and joins a clandestine resistance. She sets out to recruit Randal Scott, one of Satellite One's liberators, into their secret war against murderous extremists determined to preserve the status quo.

Praise for this book

Praise for Wars of the New Humanity: Collection One

"This collection of two books is a gorgeous offering . . . It provides strong and resonant themes, a reflection of some of the ills of contemporary society where the majority must work hard to support the lifestyles of the few. The richly textured writing, the captivating world-building, and the intrigue kept me moving from page to page. It will have you invested from start to finish and left wanting more."

-The Book Commentary

Praise for Republic Falling: Advent of a New Dawn (Wars of the New Humanity book #1)

"Extraordinary and cohesive, this novel sets a brilliant start to an incredible story. Randy is the perfect protagonist for the story. He is decisive, smart, and determined enough to get the job done. While the topic of the fight between the upper class and the lower, less privileged is a common topic, very few authors have the skill to tackle it with grace and clarity. Author Michael J Brooks introduces some fantastic technology while keeping everything real and believable (something I loved tremendously). Kudos!"

-Reviewed by Rabia Tanveer for Readers' Favorite

"A satisfying sci-fi thriller, the plot is evenly paced and the conflict is engaging. Action scenes are exciting and enjoyable. The characters are . . . presented with a sufficient complexity and internal conflict to help propel the plot and action satisfactorily. "

-The BookLife Prize, 2021

Praise for Republic Under Siege: Threat from Within (Wars of the New Humanity book #2)

"The second book in the sci-fi series Wars of the New Humanity combines elements of thriller, social inspection, and sci-fi to produce a riveting, refreshingly original story . . . packed with moment-by-moment reactions to pain, surprising twists and turns, and journeys towards healing and revised destinies. It will attract a wide age range, from young adult to adult readers."

-D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review

"Memorable characters, passionate prose, riveting action, graphic combat scenes, and steamy romance make this technothriller a standout read for new adult audiences. Brooks deftly explores social justice themes related to misogyny, racism, classism, and the balance between revolutionary ideals and maintaining functioning governmental systems while keeping his audience thoroughly entertained with the characters' intertwined conflicts, romantic liaisons, and destinies."

-Kate Robinson, The US Review of Books

"Thoroughly captivating, ingenious, and full of heart-pounding tension. Brooks has created a richly imagined world . . . The riveting storyline, plus plenty of jaw-dropping action scenes, keep readers on the edge of their seats. Solid and addictive; a SF thriller done right."
