Watch the Rope

William E. Morriss

"Watch the rope" Words of advice given to a young reporter become the title for this gripping and sometimes grisly account of the trials and execution of the last seven men to be hanged in Manitoba. In 1948 Lawrence Deacon was tried and convicted in the death of a taxi driver. The author, who covered the trial for the Winnipeg Free Press brings forward new evidence which clearly indicates that an innocent man was hanged.
