When Her Time Comes

David Vella

In the town of Saint Laurent, up-and-coming painter Gabriel Core attends pretentious art shows, seduces women in bathroom stalls, and fixates on a television show about Vincent Face, a postmodern Don Juan whose blasé sexual conquests provide a mysterious strength to Gabriel's shaky sense of self. When Gabriel crosses paths with bored party girl Angelique Duval, their lives deteriorate with train-wreck rapidity into a squalid haze of drug use, messy barfights, and profound spiritual despair. With its sensitive, can't-look-away portrait of a woman in total meltdown, When Her Time Comes is a taut psychological horror story about trauma, compulsion, and the pain of self-knowledge.
