Kevin Gilmartin,
Professor of English Literature, California Institute of Technology Kevin Gilmartin has written widely on late eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century British literature, with a particular interest in the politics of print culture. He is Professor of English Literature at the California Institute of Technology and a regular visiting professor in English and the Centre for Eighteenth Century Studies at the University of York. He is the author of
Print Politics: The Press and Radical Opposition in Early Nineteenth Century England (Cambridge, 1996) and
Writing against Revolution: Literary Conservatism in Britain, 1790-1832 (Cambridge, 2007), and the co-editor with James Chandler of
Romantic Metropolis: The Urban Scene of British Culture, 1780-1840 (Cambridge, 2005). His articles have appeared in edited collections and in such journals as
