From the Publisher

Lives go off the rails in eighteen short stories written in a propulsive, dialogue-driven style. These tales of jealousy, revenge, and murder depict men and women foundering in an amoral world. David Body's sardonic take on relationships may reveal his admiration for 1940s movies, but his stories are not simply a throwback to that earlier era. Perhaps an apt description might be neo-noir for the 21st century, still darkly humorous and saturated in greed and lust, without the saving grace of big-band music.

Biography

Body, David: - After running a successful advertising agency in Portland, Maine, for over three decades, David Body devotes much of his time now to his first love: writing. His unusual perspective on life has been shaped by numerous international adventures, including working as the first male au pair in Paris, France (he misplaced the family cat), volunteering as an "elder" in a Peace Corps cohort in Moldova (learned more than the English he taught), and circumnavigating the globe by train (except for the Pacific and Atlantic). In between, he has run in more than thirty marathons as well as hundreds of shorter races in the US, Canada, and Greece. Employed first as an advertising copywriter in Chicago (go Cubbies), he moved to Maine in 1971 and is comfortably at home there when not traveling. His efforts at poetry morphed into creating and acting in plays for the Crowbait Club, a Portland amateur theater group. In the last several years, he has settled into his preferred genre: short stories. Especially those with a sardonic touch. And a dollop of noir. David has been published in Conceit Magazine, The Ultimate Writer, and The Storyteller Anthology Magazine. This short story collection, Women & Other Crimes, is his first book.Contrary to his stories, David is happily married to Elizabeth Miller.
