Memoirs and Memoir-Ish Books I Love

This book and her experiences are inspiring and moving. I felt like I was reading about my journey on the Appalachian Trail and the Gobi Desert in Mongolia through the eyes of an amazing woman.

I do not identify as a sociopath, but we do share some parallel experiences, and my older brother was a sociopath before the term was widely used. I appreciated her challenges, honesty, and courage in sharing her story.

This was a hysterical account of her life and experiences for anybody who has a complicated relationship with a family member—in my case, my father and brother. I loved her sense of humor and clarity about what it was like to be her as a child, adolescent, and adult.

Bruce Springsteen was such an impactful musician to me as a teenage boy and young man. I grew up not too far from him and saw him live at least ten times when I was younger. I had no idea of the struggles he had growing up and how he worked his butt off to become something; forget about an internationally celebrated rockstar and composer.

OK, this isn’t really a memoir; it is a candid conversation between a President and a Rockstar. They take turns sharing their stories and experiences. It feels like they are weaving two people's memoirs together to capture what it is like to be a man, father, husband and celebrity with humility, authenticity, and examples of healthy masculinity.
