Ten Books I Never Put Away

User avatarAuthor

The books on this list are the ones I turn to most when I need feeling–real feeling—when numbness has crept in to wrap in gauze and sequester me from myself. These works remind me what is possible on the page. They stun me into long silence, they beguile, they deeply wound. They are about the precarity of existence, and they remain permanently within reach in my office, never making it back to their shelves because of the frequency with which I return to them.
