@nguyenhdi @hairygit just search the reviews of Emily Wilson's Homer translation. I mean she is a respected scholar so I didn't want to take her name, but just raised it as a point that translation is a potential area where this ideological or presentist prejudice can result in a different text.

@nguyenhdi It is also very interesting to read it as an attack on some of the late victorian feminist movements, on the surface it can be read as a misogynist screed but if you engage it is very rewarding and full of insights. I read Haggard's King Solomon's Mines also but I liked this more
