@SeeJaneMarie Little Bee by Chris Cleave. I think the word “like” is a tough definition though. Books like Sarah’s Key, The Book Thief, Out of Africa were discomfiting — burned in my brain, but not a topic I think you can like.

@writesloud Maybe Kate Chopin’s The Awakening? She’s classic-ish, at least by publishing date. My teenager just read her in AP Lit & was kind of mad at the ending, but also impressed by Chopin’s take on womanhood at the turn of the century.
