I see that @LarryBeinhart has a new book out: THE DEAL GOES DOWN. Larry Beinhart has probably forgotten more about how to write a mystery than I have ever known.

I decided it would appeal to Roald Dahl. My dad told me you could write to authors care of their publishers. So I sent off my story—carefully printed in pencil on wide-ruled paper—to the New York address printed inside the front cover of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. (2/?)

@ejlouws I'm always aiming for that 200-page book, or about 50,000 words. It's hard to write that tight but Shattering Glass by Gail Giles is only 35,000 and told from multiple POV.
