I stayed up a little past my bedtime to finish The Silent Bride by Shalini Boland. I enjoyed it. I didn’t see the ending coming & it left it a bit opened ended. Some Goodreads folks thought it was a bad book. I wasn’t looking for anything deep but I was greatly entertained!

Last night friends & I went to see The Only One Left by Riley Sager. I couldn’t believe how many people were there. It was packed. Enjoyed listening to him talk about his book & other things. He’s a Swifty. They sold over 100 books & had to go to B&N & buy more. https://t.co/uSjh2K2zzn

Reading The Brighter the Light by Mary Ellen Taylor. I’m really enjoying it. It jumps back & forth between Ruth’s timeline (1950) & Ivy’s (2022). I actually don’t mind this jumping back & forth because it isn’t a cliffhanger chapter ending. More like this was their day to day.

I’m reading The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I like how one of the main characters is a fig tree. How she describes the communication between trees & other plants. That trees have long memories, feelings & sight. To imagine them with human traits is interesting.

I’m getting close to finishing The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See. I had to take a break as the subject matter was really hard to read. I was crying. I had no idea the horrific acts that happened after WWII on Jeju. Humans are predators & so prey on other humans.

I finished Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah. I liked the book & couldn’t stop crying. I don’t love Tully tho. I think her character is good but she’s very selfish. I don’t know if it’s because of how her character grew up but I feel she’s emotionally stunted.
