Anyway, I finished The Strain trilogy. I don't love the villain's origin story. Weirdly implausible, even for a vampire book. It reads very rushed.

I love this. It reminds me of Ursula Le Guin's The Left Hand of Darkness where a biological mystery is solved, with the realisation that it takes three to fertilise. It's a fantastic book. And the majority of my conservative uni class were upset by it. https://t.co/5HY12YqDBk

@NatAlleyCat TW: SA Octavia Butler wrote about this in The Parable of the Sower, published 1993. Her story was set in 2026 and one of the most harrowing scenes very early on in the book is the rampage of sexual violence in am enclave as what little is left of civilisation collapses entirely.

Watching Matilda. Not particularly impressed. Also, I have only now read Roald Dahl with kidlet and I like the stories except for two not insignificant issues: he ties morality to looks and there is racism.
