Tonight my daughter (23 months) suddenly busted out almost flawless verbatim and very expressive recitals of two of the books we read her, Shortcut by Donald Crewes and Peter’s Chair by Ezra Jack Keats. No warning, no build-up—she just suddenly did it. 🤯

She has two little dolls and is calling them Oma and Opa— Dutch for Grandma and Grandpa. (This she gets from the Mo Willems book ‘Knuffle Bunny Free’.) But now she is deliberating on whether Opa should sit on a chair “during the experiment” or instead stand on a table.
