I watched two movies today with references to Dante's Inferno. One was a hardcore drama with generational trauma on its core, and the other one was a teen comedy. And this proves that Dante is indeed universal and you can quote him in every scenario.

People love to compare past times with today when talking about rejections as if we're living in the same type of society with the same people running publishing and taking the same risks. For example, Stephen King's Carrie would never ever be published today. Ever.
