@Nickyshearsby22 I think it was a good basis to see how writing and style have evolved. I really appreciated Mary Shelley's Frankenstein--not for the monster, but the themes. And Faulkner--lord he's depressing, but he created his own county--mainstream world building and it stuck with me 😉

Wisely, and slow. They stumble that run fast. ~~ William Shakespeare Taken in that light, Romeo & Juliet is really just a cautionary tale about not jumping into a relationship too fast...🤔🤔🤔

@jodyjsperling The Keep by F Paul Wilson. In this day and age of active writing, I just can't get through that book anymore bec it is so passive in the telling. It reads painfully slow and all those passive moments pull me out of the story :)

@anngraigh hmmmn...older but there's a book about interplanetary warfare called Armor by John Steakley I liked a lot. Newer is Brilliance by Marcus Sakey-like realistic mutant powers loose in society. Not laser eyes and such but the MC can anticipate people's actions bec of his perception

@SuperHyperSpaz Ever read Preacher? From Garth Ennis who does The Boys. Loved that one too. And Grendel is another fav. There are several different takes and maybe authors--been a long while since I've read those.

The Right Thing by Kelsey Kupitz--Dark fairy tale 😈 Out On Foot by Rocky Elmore--I like real paranormal and this is about a Border Patrol agent recounting strange encounters over his career...real stories
