@nancyvh Malka Older's stuff is great (just read Mimicking of Known Successes and love her Infomocracy trilogy); Elizabeth Bear's White Space & Ancestral Night Duology is super fun; I've been enjoying Tade Thompson, though the Rosewater series is heavier; Teixcalaan is good fun

@albanvillamil @laurencza a book related to this that affected me profoundly is Cathy Davidson's Now You See It, which is about the existence & value of different forms of attention. so many of these tools & practices valorize focus, but it's far from the only kind that matters

@m_older @clancynewyork haha this follows on a re-read of your trilogy, which was great on 3rd read! this is Cherryh's Foreigner, which has a run of 8 books that's *amazing* (books 3-10) but has slowed down lately, not that I begrudge a writer a cash cow! I needed a lot of something soothing & familiar
