I finally read Lessons in Chemistry, and I cried. Like a few times. I was like this is so sad I hope there are triumphant moments. No spoilers. 6:30 is an excellent dog name. Also, I guess I gotta watch the tv show now?

I love the texture of the illustrations, how X Fang plays with scale, and how dreamlike the illustrations are! Fun to see the dream sequence framed on the page, so many great details to explore, it’d be so fun to talk through all the illustrations with young readers!

I would ready any Steve Sheinkin book, always brilliant, fast paced nonfiction, packed with information and heart. I watched The Zone of Interest about a week before reading Impossible Escape about Auschwitz and that is a devastating one-two watching and reading experience.

I finished listening to THE ONLY BLACK GIRLS IN TOWN by @brandycolbert and what a perfect contemporary middle grade book. Shifting and growing friendships, being true to yourself, but also giving yourself some room to grow. It’s sweet and funny and an outstanding book.✨

I LOVE Houses with a Story. It is exactly the kind of book I would’ve been obsessed with when I was a kid. I had like a couple of the Incredible Cross Section books of castles and the titanic and this feels so similar!

If I was teaching HS French I would teach students the phrase, “La joconde, c’est partie!” (The Mona Lisa is gone!)...I love nonfiction and art history, perfect read, would be good read aloud!

Finished Yerba Buena by @nina_lacour, and I love how Nina’s characters are search for and create beauty. Such strong and delicate characters that she always writes with such care. ✨
