But I guess if you’ve never read Wilkie Collins before, that won’t matter so much if you read Drood. But also I highly recommend Wilkie’s novels. His most famous are The Moonstone and The Woman in White. I also highly recommend Armadale, Poor Miss Finch, Man and Wife, & No Name.

@chalkrbooks Definitely worth reading! He was Charles Dickens’s BFF and his work was serialized in Dickens’s journals. He was also friends with William Holman Hunt & the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. He had a hard time though because he had gout which lead to an laudanum/opium addiction.

I keep seeing Tweets about how A Christmas Carol is antisemitic. Jewish American here & this is news to me! I’m not saying that Charles Dickens didn’t create antisemitic Jewish characters because he did. But it might be stretching it a bit to say Ebenezer Scrooge is Jewish.

@LACarlos Yes, I did read Drood & enjoyed it very much! Was already a huge Wilkie fan as well as a big fan of Dan Simmons’s The Terror. Guillermo del Toro wants to make an adaptation of Drood, so fingers crossed!

@rej_dc Reading more of Drood, it's actually very connected with The Terror! It talks a lot about "The Frozen Deep," a play Charles Dickens and Wilkie Collins wrote inspired by the Franklin expedition.
